Family Support Services
Dealing with complex needs as a family can be hard–knowing what to do, who to talk to, and how to get your message across. AYFN staff have lived experience navigating Alaska’s child serving systems of care, and we are here to help. We provide a listening ear and help families define their needs, find resources, and build skills to become healthy, safe, stable, and whole.
For many families, the systems of care can feel like uncharted waters. Families of all kinds can come to us for personalized support, connection to resources, advocacy, and skill development. Among the systems we help with are:
- Behavioral health
- Foster care and adoption
- Child Welfare
- Juvenile Justice
- Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
- Special Education
- Domestic Violence
- Public Assistance
- Housing and Homelessness
- Substance Use Recovery
Sharing our experiences in a safe and confidential forum is one of the best ways to feel connected, to discover answers, and to relieve distress. We provide support groups and activity groups for parents, youth, and children to connect with others like them.
Skill Building Groups and Classses
Education is an important part of growth. We provide parenting classes, recovery classes, child abuse prevention trainings, life skills groups, and activity groups. Groups are designed based on the needs of the community, so please give us a call, and let us know what you need. The Google calendar below has an updated schedule of our current active groups.
